MISSION STATEMENT:
American University for Humanities is a global, multimedia, liberal arts institution of postsecondary education emphasizing academic excellence in a humanitarian environment that provides quality American higher education based on its traditional renowned liberal education, but in an innovative manner that is commensurate with the demands and requirements of the global process of change. American University for Humanities is a learner-oriented institution that provides an academically challenging and dynamic medium of learning in a moral community for all seekers of consciousness, self-betterment and human achievement from diverse backgrounds all around the globe who will be the future role players in this constantly changing world.
The didactic processes at this University are aimed at assisting learners to become effective, multifunctional, multi-disciplinary, lifelong educantes, and servants of humanity now and throughout their lives. The basic philosophy of education in this University is to shift education from a rote memorization of bygone-based subjective interpretations, to the training of the mind to recognize, research and design objectively.
The Armenia Campus of the American University for Humanities, as an integral member of AUH global family, open to young school leavers is dedicated to the study, creation and performance of the oldest disciplines of higher education, namely the attainment of theoretical and practical proficiency in the core of knowledge that forms the common human heritage within the context of history and theory geared to the requirements of time and place and the global process of change. Teaching and research activities of the Campus in Liberal Arts and Applied Sciences are pursued both as an end in themselves and as a source that can augment human experiences in general. The theoretical, societal, literary and historical courses offered at degree level not only are to compliment the practical activities in every day life, but also to assist with the intellectual development of the individual on lifelong basis.
EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES:
Pursuant to the generally understood mission of liberal education as a process of seeking “…knowledge for its own sake as well as for the good it brings to self and society, cultivating thoughtful and responsible persons and citizens, and preparing young men and women for the world of work…” the AUH Armenia Campus Faculty comprehends its calling as combining the above with the centuries-long traditions of Armenian and Regional classical education in Liberal Studies, the core of it being the emphasis on paramount values of Armenian and Regional languages, historicism, ethics, and literature as well as study of the cultural principles of the Region, and moral values based on a humanistic value systems.
To put it differently, the AUH Armenia Campus Faculty understands its mission as translating the virtues of liberal education and modern cutting-edge technologies in terms of the tenets of Armenian and Regional weltanschauung through epitomizing the principles of individual human rights, freedom of speech and expression, liberty of thought and action, and nurturing the will for lifelong self -betterment.
The Faculty and administration at AUH Armenia Campus, in conformity with the mission, perceives the educational objectives of the College as keeping a delicate balance in the process of interactive education between the students’ given amount of accumulated knowledge and their ability and skill in independently seeking for it now and on life-long basis to meet the challenges of the process of change, to see the problems, to seek the best solutions, and to implement them in the service of the community and humanity.
EDUCATIONAL SCOPE:
A number of high-quality baccalaureate programs built around a distinctive Liberal Education core curriculum are offered by the College, unique in being directly related to the demands of the regional cultures and communities, as well as global demands for multi-functional, proficient and learned individuals. We feel that with the narrowing of specialties by the day all across the globe, our graduates will play a major role in the 21st century world in the same manner as the all-embracing sages that have, by tradition, contributed to the intellectual and pragmatic needs of human community since the dawn of civilization.
Although Learners remain the primary focus of the University, but the College also values its faculty and staff who have committed their talents and careers to advance its mission in the Republic of Armenia. The American University for Humanities and the Armenia Campus pledge to support their work, to encourage their professional development, to evaluate their professional performance and to compensate them at nationally competitive levels.
